Jammu, Dec 13: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri on Wednesday said that enhanced healthcare facilities including new medical colleges, Medi-cities, and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir speaks of the progressing face of progressing Bharat, especially Jammu and Kashmir.
After this, the people of J&K will not have to travel distances to seek better healthcare facilities, which is a big achievement, he said in a statement.
Suri said that the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar while answering the question of Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Ali Khatana in the Parliament, had shown a great picture of the developing healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir. The establishment of five Medi-cities in J&K, seven medical colleges at Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Anantnag, Baramulla, Handwara and Udhampur, and AIIMS, speak of the Union Government’s priorities viz-a-viz Jammu and Kashmir.
Those who question Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievements must know that the establishment of two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), one at Vijaypur in Jammu and another at Awantipora in Kashmir, testify to the government’s resolve to provide people with better medical facilities, which in fact were denied to them for over 75 years, the BJP leader said.
“Today, when AIIMS Vijaypur is almost functional and patients from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh are seeking treatments here in Jammu, the better road network that is connecting these states is also playing a major role in providing better medical facilities to the people. In addition, trauma care facilities have been approved for four hospitals including Anantnag, Ramban, Doda, Udhampur and Kupwara. This is the level of transformation that the Union Territory of J&K is experiencing,” he said.
The BJP leader said five medi-cities including two at Jammu, two at Pulwama and one at Srinagar, once operational, will add more facilities to J&K’s infrastructure. “Ever since BJP has taken over the reins of government at the Centre, Jammu and Kashmir has become its priority and beginning from roads, bridges, tunnels, railway lines to medical facilities besides safety and security of people, every possible step is being initiated by the government to transform J&K, which was gripped in militancy and false & frivolous campaigns of leaders, who were averse to development and prosperity of common people,” Suri added.
