Hirpora , Jan 27: Hirpora, a picturesque mountainous village along Mughal Road in South Kashmir, came alive as the fresh snowfall adorned the village on Thursday evening.
Following the snow delight , the locals as well as tourists flocked to Hirpora which is the second-largest village along Mughal Road located approximately 12 kilometres from the district headquarters in Shopian.
While Hirpora is renowned for its stunning landscapes, it has already gained recognition for cultivating high-quality Red Potatoes.
Post snowfall, the overjoyed children could not contain their excitement, engaging in the age-old local snow game named “sheen i Jung,” skidding and hurling snowballs.
The serenity of the snow-clad village caught the attention of journalists and media content creators, who quickly arrived at Hirpora to enjoy the breathtaking snow-clad landscape.
As cameras rolled, capturing the joyous scenes of kids playing amidst the backdrop of snow-covered mountain peaks and tall pine trees, the village became a newfound attraction.
Tourists, like Abrar Ahmad from Bangalore, were drawn to the enchanting winter spectacle. Although his original plan to visit Pir Ki Gali was thwarted due to road closures beyond Hirpora, Ahmad expressed awe at the winter charm. “This is my first visit to this place in winter, and it looks amazingly enchanting,” he remarked.
Pir Ki Gali or Pir Panjal pass is a mountainous terrain which connects Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri.
This highest point along historic Mughal Road is an enchanting place attracting a huge number of visitors in the summer season.
The local residents of Hirpora and adjoining areas are demanding the authorities to promote the area for winter tourism.
