2 training programs for Batch 9&10 of Pashu Sakhis concluded at SKUAST-K

Srinagar, Aug 28: Two Training Programme for Batch 9&10 of Pashu Sakhis under A-Help concluded at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K on Monday. The programme was sponsored by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and organized by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai. 
The valedictory session was inaugurated by Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi via online mode. The Guest of Honor of the programme was Dr. Balbir Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Livestock Development Board, Kashmir.  The programme was attended by Dr. Rahul, NDDB Training Manager; Prof. Purshotam, Dr. Farahnaz Rasool, Scientists of Directorate of Extension, Master Trainers, and participants of the training programme. 
Director Extension, SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi in his address appreciated the organizers of the training programme, Master Trainers and Training Managers of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for organizing the series of Pashu Sakhis trainings. Speaking on the occasion he advised the trainees to empower themselves through specific skills and join Self-Help Groups to serve the society at large and to earn the living in a dignified manner. 
He further emphasized on the need of using scientific practices in improving livelihood of farmers. He said that the basic objective for the training was to provide a platform to the trainees to expand their knowledge and skill related to livestock sector. 
He stressed upon the need to augment the economy of the rural youth and stressed on entrepreneurship development for empowering women in livestock sector and deliberated upon the importance of self-employment. Prof. Makhdoomi also said that this programme acted as a bridge between animal health, farming community and better produce. Dr. Balbir Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Livestock Development Board, Kashmir said that the main purpose of the programme was to train the educated females of rural areas of J&K. 
The theme of the training programme was the development of women folk in J&K and thanked SKUAST-K authorities for organizing such programmes. He further said that this training programme was beneficial for dissemination of Veterinary Services to the grass root level under field conditions and promoted the linkage of lab to field. Dr. Rahul, Training Manager NDDB earlier presented the overview of the training programme. 
In this training programme, the trainees have learned about the vaccination, tagging and providing first-aid to the animals of their areas. The training programme was demand driven for boosting the morale of youth and for generating the income and livelihood for unemployed rural youth.
