Srinagar, Nov 30: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order J&K, Vijay Kumar on Thursday urged upon all the enforcement agencies to identify real miscreants who have been spreading rumours and take appropriate preventive legal actions so that the sanctity of law is fully maintained.
The meeting comes two days after protests were held at the NIT-Srinagar and other colleges over a student’s social media post allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Presiding over a joint meeting of Police, CAPF’s & Intelligence wings at Police Control Room Kashmir, ADGP Kumar urged officers to keep vigil eye, take pre-emptive measures to prevent society from the risk of inimical elements.
During the meeting, ADGP Kumar was briefed by the officers about the chronology of events happened during past couple of days visa-vis handling of these issues as per the merits and Law by J&K Police.
He not only appreciated Law enforcing agencies for their timely action but also praised the society for showing maturity while reacting to the issue. ADGP Kumar urged officers to take full control of situation and not allow nefarious designs to exploit the situation.
He stressed upon all the enforcement agencies to identify real miscreants who have been spreading rumours and take appropriate preventive legal actions so that the sanctity of law is fully maintained.
ADGP Kumar also asked the intelligence agencies to keep a hawk’s eye on the situation and identify the people with nefarious designs who are hell bent to pollute the atmosphere of peace & tranquillity.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials from various security and intelligence agencies, both in person and virtually including IG CRPF SOS/KOS, JD IB, IGP Kashmir, IG BSF, DIG SSB, DDIB, DIG CKR, DIG CID, DIG Armed, COL GS, DC’s besides, DIsG NKR/SKR along with their counterpart CRPF DIsG attended the meeting through virtually.
On Nov 29, Police registered a FIR against the student of National Institute of Technology (NIT) for uploading sensitive content against religious sentiments of a particular community.
