Jammu, Feb 11: Priya Sethi, National Executive Member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former minister on Sunday underscored the indispensable role of women workers in ensuring the resounding success of the Shakti Vandana Abhiyan in Jammu & Kashmir.
Chairing a meeting to oversee the progress and strategic planning of the Shakti Vandana Abhiyan in Jammu and Kashmir, Priya Sethi emphasized the significance of the Shakti Vandana Abhiyan, highlighting its focus on empowering women through self-help groups and providing them with necessary financial support in the form of loans and subsidies. She said the aim of the party is to connect over 1 crore self-help groups operating across the country to ensure the comprehensive upliftment of women.
The Shakti Vandana Abhiyan, a flagship program of the BJP, is being conducted nationwide on a mission mode to empower women through self-help groups and various schemes aimed at their upliftment.
Priya said the meeting served as a platform to review ongoing programs and preparations to engage with maximum self-help groups and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) while acknowledging and honouring the contributions of women functionaries within these organizations. She informed the Shakti Vandana Abhiyan will be intensified in every district of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT), underscoring the commitment to reach every corner of the region with empowerment initiatives.
According to a statement issued here, it was revealed that a target outreach of 25 crore voters has been set across the country, with Jammu and Kashmir expected to make significant contributions. She urged extensive engagement with self-help groups and NGOs to achieve this goal effectively.
The BJP leader asked Mahila Morcha activists to intensify the Shakti Vandana Abhiyan in every single district of Jammu and Kashmir. Recognizing the pivotal role of Mahila Morcha in galvanizing grassroots support and fostering women’s empowerment, she urged women activists to extend their reach to every corner of the region, ensuring the Abhiyan’s penetration into the most remote and marginalized communities.
Sanjita Dogra, Mahila Morcha President, BJP J&K, laid stress upon the party’s women workers to actively engage with women in rural and urban areas, ensuring their participation and empowerment through various initiatives under the Abhiyan. She emphasized the need for grassroots-level mobilization and the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship to drive economic growth and social progress in the region.
Veenu Khanna, Secretary, BJP, J&K and Co-Coordinator of Shakti Vandana Abhiyan, also said that the involvement of women at every stage of decision-making and implementation is crucial for the success and sustainability of the Abhiyan, urging for inclusivity and gender sensitivity in all endeavours.
