Bandipora, July 22: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Tuesday inaugurated the District Wushu Championship 2025 at Universal Education Trust School, Plan Bandipora.As per a statement issued here, organised under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the championship aims to promote physical fitness, youth empowerment, and a drug-free lifestyle among young people in the district. The event drew nearly 300 young athletes, both boys and girls, representing various schools and sports clubs across Bandipora. Participants competed in multiple age categories, showcasing their skill, discipline and passion for the martial art.In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the transformative power of sport in shaping character, discipline, and teamwork. “Sports help instil values that steer youth towards constructive and meaningful lives,” he remarked. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting youth-centric initiatives that serve as a shield against drug abuse. The event was also graced by Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar, Brand Ambassador of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, who praised the initiative and urged participants to embrace sports as a lifelong pursuit. “Sport is not just a game—it’s a path to health, confidence and a purpose-driven life,” he told the enthusiastic young audience. The championship witnessed a vibrant turnout of sports lovers, youth leaders, and renowned athletes from the district, reflecting the growing interest in martial arts as a positive force in community development
