Srinagar, March 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has initiated a probe into allegations of disproportionate assets held by Manzoor Ahmad Tantray, a Professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
He was under scrutiny for allegedly amassing significant assets, including immovable properties, movable assets, and cash deposits, beyond his known sources of income.
The omissions and commissions on the part of the above named public servant constitute offences punishable U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) J&K PC Act. Svt. 2006. Accordingly a case FIR No. 04/2024 is registered in P/S ACB Srinagar and further investigation taken up.
Following legal procedures, search warrants were obtained from the court, leading to simultaneous searches conducted at five different locations. These included a residential house in Duderhama, Ganderbal, a shopping complex near District Hospital Ganderbal, a rest house in Kangan, Ganderbal, his official residence and office at NIT Srinagar, and a flat in Sunjwan Bathandi, Jammu.
During these searches, incriminating evidence such as revenue papers, financial and bank documents, and a substantial amount of hard cash totaling ₹386650 were seized. The recovery of these materials serves as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
As the case progresses, the ACB continues its efforts to uncover any further discrepancies and illicit acquisitions. Further updates on the investigation will be provided as they develop.
