Srinagar, Jun 11: A high-level delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), currently on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, called on National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah at his Srinagar residence on Wednesday.
Nasir Sogami, Advisor to Chief Minister and Tanvir Sadiq, the party’s Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, were present at the occasion.
The CPI(M) delegation comprised senior party leaders including M A Baby (General Secretary, CPI(M)), Amra Ram (MP, Lok Sabha), K Radhakrishnan (MP, Lok Sabha), John Brittas (MP, Rajya Sabha), Su Venkatesan (MP, Lok Sabha), Bikash Ranjan (MP, Rajya Sabha), A A Rahim (MP, Rajya Sabha), M Y Tarigami (Central Committee Member, MLA), according to a party statement issued here.
“During the meeting, wide-ranging discussions were held on the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Both sides emphasised the importance of peace, meaningful dialogue, and the protection of democratic and constitutional rights of the people,” the statement said.
“It was unanimously agreed that the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir centre around lasting peace, dignity and stability,” the statement said, adding that the leaders reiterated their commitment to upholding these values through continued democratic engagement and public outreach.
