Srinagar, Feb 12: The Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has invited filmmakers from Jammu & Kashmir to participate in a short film competition.
According to officials, winners will receive a cash prize and an opportunity to engage with prominent filmmakers in Mumbai.
The DIPR has outlined specific criteria for participation, including the requirement that participants must be domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir. Films should have a duration of 15-20 minutes, be in full HD resolution, and be original works not available online or previously screened at festivals. Additionally, films must be subtitled in English and Hindi, with any dialogues in other languages included.
An official said this is an open platform for young filmmakers to showcase their skills, offering both rewards and the chance to connect with industry leaders in Mumbai. The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh, 1.5 lakh for Runner Up, and 75000 for 2nd Runner Up, and three consolation prizes of 40000.
Interested individuals can submit their entries to [email protected] as a Google Drive attachment. The submission period runs from February 13 to 28,2024.
An aspiring filmmaker from Srinagar expressed enthusiasm, terming this as “a great opportunity for Kashmiri filmmakers who often struggle for financial support”. He expressed hope that other departments, including tourism, will organise similar events in the future.
