Srinagar, Jun 06: Political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir have extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. They expressed hope that the revered occasion brings peace and prosperity to the region.
Dr Farooq Abdullah
National Conference (NC) president, Dr Farooq Abdullah conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the people on Eid-ul-Adha, wishing them peace, prosperity and unity.
In his message, Dr Abdullah reflected on the profound significance of the day, saying, “As the Muslim Ummah comes together in celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, I extend my warmest greetings to everyone. This blessed day commemorates the supreme sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), who, in his unwavering faith, was prepared to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Ismail (AS), in submission to the will of the Almighty. But Allah’s mercy prevailed, sparing Hazrat Ismail (AS) and providing a ram in his place. This day, therefore, stands as a timeless symbol of sacrifice, devotion, and trust in divine wisdom. It is a moment for us all to reflect on the importance of compassion, generosity, and empathy. Let us come together to uplift the less fortunate and bring joy to those in need. May the spirit of Eid bring solace to the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, and may it help ease their burdens.”
The party also extended warm wishes to the people, hoping that the spirit of Eid uplifts the hearts of all and fosters unity and compassion across communities.
Mehbooba Mufti
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, emphasising the festival’s values of sacrifice, compassion and unity.
In a statement, Mufti called for reflection on the teachings of Eid-ul-Adha, inspired by the Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) spirit of devotion and selflessness. She urged the people of J&K to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and work towards peace and harmony amidst ongoing challenges in the region.
Highlighting the need for justice, the PDP chief appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the occasion with a humanitarian gesture by ordering the immediate release of prisoners, particularly youth, detained on suspicion or without serious charges. “Such an act would reflect the essence of this festival, rebuild trust, and demonstrate a commitment to dialogue and reconciliation,” she said, adding that prolonged detentions without substantial evidence deepen alienation and hinder peace efforts in J&K.
Javed Rana
Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana has extended his warmest greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
In his message, the minister said, “May the blessed festival bring peace, prosperity and joy to us all. On this occasion, let us come together to celebrate the true spirit of sacrifice and compassion that defines Eid-ul-Adha.”
Rana prayed for the well-being and happiness of all citizens and expressed hope that this occasion will foster a deep sense of social harmony and brotherhood among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister urged everyone to embody the true message of Eid-ul-Adha by helping the needy and underprivileged, spreading love, kindness and generosity. “As we commemorate this special day, let us strive to make a positive impact in our communities and spread the values of compassion, kindness and generosity that Eid-ul-Adha embodies,” he added.
Zaffer Mir
People’s Democratic Party leader Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) extended warm Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Muslims across the globe, calling the occasion an opportunity for reflection, compassion and humility.
In his message, Zaffer said, “Eid-ul-Azha is not just a festival—it is a moment to introspect and renew our commitment to care for those around us. It reminds us to share our blessings with the less fortunate and embrace the values of brotherhood and human dignity that transcend religious boundaries.”
Highlighting the need for social solidarity, Mir urged citizens to remember those affected by recent cross-border shelling by Pakistan. “There are families in our own society who have lost homes, belongings and even lives. On this sacred occasion, we must not forget them. I appeal to everyone to extend a helping hand in whatever way possible and make Eid meaningful for them too,” he said.
Zaffer Mir said such festivals serve as powerful reminders to rise above divisions and reaffirm our shared humanity. “Let this Eid be a celebration not just of faith, but of collective responsibility, kindness, and unity,” he added.
Sajad Lone
People’s Conference (PC) president and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone extended his heartfelt greetings and warm felicitations to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire Muslim Ummah on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

“Eid-ul-Adha is not just a celebration, but a profound spiritual journey that inspires us to embody the principles of selflessness, compassion and brotherhood,” he said.
Calling for collective reflection and empathy, the PC chief urged people to remember those facing hardship and to extend generosity and support to uplift the marginalised. “As we mark this holy occasion, let us open our hearts to the less fortunate and work together to build a more compassionate and equitable society,” he said.

This day holds profound significance as it also marks the culmination of the sacred Hajj pilgrimage. Also, I humbly request that you extend your support to the underprivileged members of society and share the festive celebrations with them on this auspicious occasion.”

Eid Mubarak to all,” Hakeem added.
