Srinagar, Oct 15: Political parties and leaders have expressed condolence over the demise of noted journalist, writer and poet Ghulam Nabi Khayal, who passed away on Sunday here. They paid tributes to the Sahitya Academy Awardee for his literary contributions.
National Conference
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of the Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah expressed profound grief over the demise of Ghulam Nabi Khayal.
In his condolence message, Dr Farooq said, “The news of the passing away of Khayal sahib has saddened me. He has left an indelible mark on the literary circles of Kashmir as an eminent writer, journalist and translator. I extend my heartfelt condolences and sympathies to his bereaved family and numerous fans. May Almighty elevate his stations in Jannat.”
Omar Abdullah in his condolence statement said, “I am deeply grieved to learn about the demise of noted poet, essayist and Sahitya Academy Awardee Ghulam Nabi Khayal sahib. Kashmir’s illuminating star with a wisdom of past and present has set. This marks the end of a long life of service inspired by the ideals nobly conceived and actively pursued and will be remembered for generations to come. In his demise, Kashmir has lost the greatest of her sons, who through his manifold literary and poetic achievements raised her estimation across the country & the world. My deepest & sincerest sympathies go out to his family in their bereavement. Khayal sahib will continue to live through his work.”
The party’s General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Political Advisors Mushtaq Guroo, Mudassar Shahmiri, Party MPs Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also expressed grief over the demise of the noted literary figure.
Congress
Senior Congress leader and CWC Member Ghulam Ahmad Mir termed the demise of Ghulam Nabi Khayal a great loss to Jammu and Kashmir.
In his condolence message, Mir said, “G N Khayal was an eminent writer and author of thirty books, who has greatly contributed to the society through his pen. His passing away is a great loss to the writer’s fraternity and the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well. He was a visionary and upright personality.” Mir offered heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family and friends and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Apni Party
Apni Party’s President, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, and Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi extended their deepest condolences and heartfelt sorrow on the demise of Khayal.
Altaf Bukhari, in his condolence message, said, “Khayal Sahib was a son of the soil, whose remarkable contributions to the realms of literature and journalism stand unmatched. I am profoundly saddened by his demise. May his soul find eternal peace, and may Allah bestow His choicest blessings on his grave. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
Ghulam Hassan Mir, in a message of condolence, said, “During his lifetime, Khayal Sahib authored numerous books, including the highly acclaimed Kashmiri translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. His departure has left an irreplaceable void in the realm of literature. May Allah grant him the loftiest abode in Jannah.”
Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, in his expression of profound grief and sorrow over the passing of Ghulam Nabi Khayal, shared these sentiments: “Eminent literary figures and revered personalities like Khayal Sahib do not fade away; instead, they eternally reside in the hearts and memories of the people. His remarkable work and unparalleled contributions to the realms of literature and journalism will remain here forever.”
Farooq Andrabi, in his condolence message, said, “Today, we bid farewell to a greatly esteemed literary figure, whose contributions will be eternally cherished in our hearts. May the Almighty bestow the highest place in Jannah on this noble soul.”
Apni Party General Secretary, Rafi Ahmed Mir in his condolence message, said Khayal’s work inspired many and the late journalist highlighted the plight of society. Mir remembered GN Khayal’s contribution to society and literature and said the demise has created a void in the literary world.
Peoples Democratic Front
Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen in his condolence message said the demise was a big loss to the Kashmiri language, literature and art. G N Khayal’s contribution to Kashmir art, language and literature was immense and will always be remembered.
