Awantipora, April 18: The National Service Scheme (NSS), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Friday organised a weekly series of events to commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice. The celebrations were conducted as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The events began with a collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution, led by Dr. Tariq Ahmad Ganaie, University Program Coordinator for NSS, IUST, who emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s lasting vision for equality and justice. A symbolic Padyatra (foot march) was held from Campus 1 to Campus 2, with participants carrying banners to highlight the significance of Ambedkar Jayanti and spread awareness of his contributions. In alignment with a green initiative, a plantation drive took place on the university premises, reinforcing a commitment to sustainable development and community welfare. The celebrations saw participation from NSS volunteers, university Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, university Officers, students and scholars.
