Srinagar, Apr 04: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday reiterated that the party will continue to stand as the “leading advocate” for the economically and socially disadvantaged classes.
During a meeting with a delegation from Gujjar Basti Bandipora, Dr Abdullah said the NC has consistently protected their interests and implemented initiatives to enhance their living conditions.
According to a party statement issued here, the NC Chief highlighted the recent budget presented by the Omar-led government, which allocated resources to alleviate the suffering of the poorest individuals by providing free 200 units of electricity and additional rations to those at the bottom of the economic ladder.
“The introduction of free transportation for women will also significantly improve their quality of life,” Dr Farooq said, assuring that all promises made in the party’s manifesto, especially those concerning the economically and socially marginalised groups, will be fulfilled.
He added, “The NC has a long history of advocating for the rights of the underprivileged, and under the leadership of the Omar-led government, this mission will persist.”
Later, Dr Abdullah attended Friday congregational prayers at Asar-e-Sharif Dargah Hazratbal, where he prayed for lasting peace and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
