Jammu, Mar 12: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri on Tuesday came down heavily on National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah for his remarks that “BJP has given Ramadan gift to Muslims of the country by notifying the CAA”.
“The National Conference, as usual, is trying to polarise the society by spreading lies which have no basis and are concocted, misleading, and aimed at gaining back some lost foothold in the political arena,” Suri said.
He said that without explaining ‘how CAA will affect Muslims’ to the people of the country or the audience, whom Omar Abdullah was trying to address, he chose to simply drag the holy month of Ramadan and Shri Ram Temple at Ayodhya into the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) subject. “This is nothing but NC;s frustration after collapsed INDI Alliance and People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) besides a failed attempt to gain the lost ground in Kashmir,” he said.
The BJP leader said, “CAA has been implemented to provide citizenship to six communities including Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis who came to India on or before December 31, 2014 from three countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. How and where do the Muslims living in India come into picture with respect to CAA? Omar Abdullah must explain this to the people whom he is trying to exploit or mislead by his vague, manipulative, concocted, and twisted statements.”
The BJP leader said the Union Home Minister Amit Shah had time and again said that well-before the general elections, CAA will be implemented, and that is what he did. “Unable to find anything wrong with the law, Omar Abdullah is now questioning the timing of its implementation. The NC leader should come clean on the subject whether he is opposed to the law or its timing. Omar Abdullah must also explain how Shri Ram Temple is linked to the CAA and its timing, or must apologise to the people who are sure to teach him a lesson in the upcoming elections,” he said.
Raman said the NC leader must understand that whatever BJP promises, it fulfills. “CAA, law on Triple Talaq, Abrogation of Article 370 or One Nation, One Law are some of the examples of BJP’s commitments, which it fulfilled in letter and spirit. Now that the BJP has said that it is going to get 400 plus seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, NC must reconcile to the fact that it is going to happen with the active support of people and on the basis of work that BJP government at the Centre has done under able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Suri said Muslims across the country, especially in Kashmir, are appreciating the work done by PM Modi, and it is only the National Conference which is trying to instigate them for gaining votes. “Saying that by implementing CAA, Muslims have been made a target, Omar is trying to polarise the society as well as mislead and misguide the common people, which is highly condemnable,” he said.
