In two years, 49354 youth graduate in J&K

11,526 selected for govt jobs through JKPSC, JKSSB

Jammu, Mar 11: In the past two years, as many as 49,354 graduates have passed out in J&K, while 11,526 selections were made in the public sector, the government said in a written response to a legislator’s question in the assembly.

Chander Prakash Ganga had asked a starred question seeking details of the total number of graduates in the past two years and the employment generated in both the government and private sectors in J&K during this period.

In response, the Minister in charge, said that in 2023, a total of 25,428 graduates passed out, while in 2024, the number stood at 23,926.

The government further revealed that 11,526 selections have been made by the J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) in the past two years for government jobs.

“In 2023, JKPSC made 1,141 selections and JKSSB 3,695, while in 2024, JKPSC made 1,034 selections and JKSSB 5,656 in the government sector,” the response stated.

The government also said that employment generation in the private sector, through the industrial sector, PMEGP, and REGP, accounted for 45,688 jobs in the past two years.

Besides, as per data from the last four years, a total of 9.58 lakh self-employment or livelihood opportunities have been generated through schemes such as Mumkin, Tejaswini, PMEGP, and REGP, up to January 2025.
