Ganderbal, Mar 04: The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) has successfully completed snow clearance operations in the Kil Thoal Kullan area of Gund in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials confirmed. The operation was initiated after authorities received information about heavy snowfall blocking key routes in the region.
An official from PMGSY said, “The snow in the Kil Thoal area has been cleared, and our machinery was kept on standby to tackle any further snowfall. We are committed to ensuring connectivity in the region, especially during harsh winter conditions.”
However, locals from Sonamarg have raised concerns over the snow clearance efforts by the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department. Residents claim that the department has not adequately cleared snow from several stretches of the road, leaving many areas inaccessible. Additionally, parking slots remain fully uncleared, leading to frequent traffic jams in the area.
A local resident from Sonamarg said, “The R&B Department has not properly cleaned the snow on the roads in many places. The parking areas are still blocked, causing daily traffic jams. We urge the department to address these issues promptly to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.”
