IISM Gulmarg concludes 14-day snow skiing course

Gulmarg, Jan 31: The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg successfully concluded its third snow skiing course which was aimed to provide participants with comprehensive training in snow skiing techniques and safety.
The course, which spanned 14 days, witnessed the participation of 69 enthusiastic individuals from various backgrounds.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors and trainers, the participants underwent rigorous training sessions that covered both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Col IS Thapa, SM,VSM, MID, Principal of IISM, honored the winners of different skiing events at a graduation ceremony and wished them good luck in their future endeavours .
Throughout the course, participants learned essential skiing techniques, including proper body positioning, balance, turning, and stopping. They also received training on safety measures, avalanche awareness, and rescue techniques, ensuring their preparedness for any unforeseen circumstances in snow-covered terrains.
“The participants showcased remarkable progress and dedication throughout the course, with many mastering the basic skiing skills and gaining confidence on the slopes. The IISM instructors provided individual attention and personalized guidance to ensure the participants’ growth and improvement,” a statement said.
It added the successful conclusion of the 3rd snow skiing course marks a significant milestone for the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering. “The institute remains committed to promoting winter sports and adventure activities, while also encouraging local employment through these activities.”
“The IISM extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment. The institute also expresses gratitude to the instructors, trainers, and support staff for their tireless efforts in making the course a resounding success,” the statement said.
