FVSc AH, SKUAST-K concludes skill dev prog on laboratory animal medicine

Srinagar, Feb 11: The Division of Veterinary Biochemistry, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH) (Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) successfully organised a seven-day intensive MSME-MDP sponsored training program titled “Precision in Practice: Theoretical cum Hands On training in Animal Laboratory Medicine” from 05-02-2025 to 11-02-2025. The program was aimed to equip life sciences students with hands-on expertise in laboratory medicine, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and enhancing employability in healthcare and research sectors.

The programme was designed for postgraduate students, and focused on imparting critical skills in diagnostic techniques, advanced laboratory protocols, data interpretation, and biosafety measures. Over 25 participants engaged in interactive sessions led by renowned experts from diverse scientific domains, including Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Pathology, Immunology, and Biotechnology. The curriculum blended theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations, covering essential techniques such as PCR, ELISA, hematological analysis, and molecular diagnostics.

Eminent speakers from premier institutions and industry leaders delivered lectures on emerging trends in laboratory medicine. Coordinator of Training Program-Dr. Rahil Razak Bhat, Asstt. Professor Division of Veterinary Biochemistry, F.V.Sc & A.H, SKUAST-Kashmir, emphasized precision in Molecular diagnostics, while Prof. Ishraq Hussain, a Clinical and Molecular Biochemist, demonstrated automated assay systems respectively. Hands-on workshops on Laboratory diagnostic techniques were also conducted.

The participants thanked the coordinators for providing the exposure to advanced knowledge and expertise in transformation of their approach to laboratory sciences.
