Ganderbal, Dec 04: Residents of Pathribal Gagangeer area of Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Monday took to the Srinagar highway to protest the perceived negligence in safety measures during the construction of the Z Morh tunnel. The demonstration was triggered after a sizable stone from the construction site narrowly missed nearby houses. Thankfully, no casualties or financial losses were reported.
Voicing their concerns, locals underscored the imperative for enhanced safety protocols, urging the construction company involved to prioritize the well-being of the community. Recalling a prior incident involving a heavy stone, residents called for swift intervention from the district administration in Ganderbal to look into the matter
After receiving the information, a team from Gund Police Station along with its SHO Mudasir Ahmad reached the spot. Assuring the protesters, the police team pledged to address their grievances with the officials of APCO Company, the company overseeing the tunnel construction.
Following the assurance, the residents peacefully concluded their protest.
