Srinagar, Jan 05: People’s Conference (PC) chairman and MLA Handwara, Sajad Lone has urged the government to release the pending pensions and marriage assistance funds.
Lone claimed that pensions for differently-abled persons, elderly citizens and widows have not been paid for the last four months, while marriage assistance has been pending for eight months.
He reminded the government of its election manifesto promise to increase pensions from Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 3,000 and marriage assistance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000. However, he stressed that even the existing payments have not been made.
“Please at least pay what they were already getting,” the PC chief said, adding that the beneficiaries face financial difficulties.
Lone’s appeal comes as many affected individuals struggle to meet their basic needs. He urged authorities to act immediately and ensure the timely disbursement of funds. (KNS)
