Jammu, Jan 4: Skipper Shambhavi Rajput played a magnificent innings and salvaged a lone battle but her masterclass innings could not save J&K from a defeat against Saurashtra in the ongoing Women’s U-19 One-Day Trophy at MGM Cricket Ground Aurangabad, Saturday.
Chasing a target of 200 runs, Shambhavi showed elegance, promise, grit and guts to score brilliant 62 runs, studded with 10 delectable boundaries. However, she fell short of support from the other side as Mahika Singh Rana (14), Manya Banotra (13), Somya Bamba (12) and Sania Slathia (10) were the only other batters to reach the double figure mark and the team managed to score 152 runs in 48.2 overs, thus losing the match by 47 runs. For Saurashtra, Ridhdhi Jaru bagged 3 wickets, while Krishas and Bhakti claimed 2 wickets each.
Earlier, put into bat, Saurashtra scored 199 runs in 48.3 overs. Skipper Saloni top scored with 46 runs off 64 balls with 8 crispy boundaries, while Krishas (33), Deetya Singhvi (30) and Bhindi K (26) were the other major contributors. Reyanshu Rani and Bagya Lakshmi Jamwal took 3 wickets each, while Manya Banotra bagged 2 wickets. Shruti Thakur and Sania Slathia claimed one wicket each.
