Qazigund, Dec 27: Parts of South Kashmir experienced the season’s first snowfall on Friday afternoon, bringing much-needed winter charm to the region.
According to independent weather forecaster Aadil Mir, snowfall began shortly after noon and is expected to continue until around 10 p.m.
He said that by 3 p.m., snowfall accumulation had reached 1 inch in Kulgam town, 4 inches in Qazigund, 1 inch in Anantnag town, and 3-4 inches in Achabal, while Shopian town reported light snowfall.
“Moderate snowfall continues in several parts of South Kashmir, and we anticipate more in the next 6-8 hours,” Mir said. He also predicted light snowfall in Srinagar city toward the evening, with some areas in North Kashmir likely to experience similar conditions.
