KUPWARA, DEC 19: The District Administration Kupwara, in collaboration with The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF), launched a four-day peace education program for the officers and officials of various departments here.
The Peace Education Program, a flagship initiative of TPRF, has been successfully implemented in various parts of the world, and its introduction in District Kupwara is a testament to the vision of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan (IAS) for promoting peace at the grassroots level. The collaboration between the District Administration and TPRF represents a commitment to building a more peaceful and compassionate society.
In his introductory remarks, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, “One is never too old to learn. We learn from cradle to grave, and this training program is designed to take us on the journey of learning techniques of self-discovery. In today’s stressful life, everyone must learn this art of life. The concept of religion itself is based on human’s desire to seek peace and that society is paying a huge price in the form of anxiety and depression due to lack of proper education in this regard.”
The Facilitator from TPRF, Poonam Sharawat, in the orientation session, briefed about the objective of The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) and Peace Education Program. “It is an innovative series of video-based workshops that help people discover their own inner strength and personal peace. The program allows participants to focus and reflect on their humanity and inner resources such as choice, hope and dignity,” Poonam said.
She said that life is a blessing and carries some purpose which is the foundation of peace, but different social pressures distract us from this very purpose and joining this Peace Education Program is discovery and revision of the purpose of life.
The workshop will enhance interpersonal skills, promote empathy and provide practical tools for conflict resolution. The trained facilitators from TRPF are expected to bring a wealth of experience and expertise to guide participants through the curriculum. The program embraces diversity and inclusivity, recognizing the importance of understanding different perspectives and fostering mutual respect within the community. With a focus on sustainable impact, the program aims to equip individuals with skills that can be applied in their daily lives, contributing to the creation of a more harmonious and resilient community.
The workshop witnessed active participation from officers and officials of various departments, including Health, Education, RDD, Horticulture, Social Welfare and Animal Husbandry, fostering a sense of collective responsibility for creating a peaceful environment in the frontier district.
