Jammu, Dec 15: Ranbir Singh Pathania, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Udhampur East, on Sunday called for unity and vigilance against rising extremism and societal polarisation.
Speaking at the annual day celebration of Brahamrishi Bawara Vidyapeeth School, Pathania called on the people of India to stand strong against divisive forces that aim to fracture the nation’s social fabric.
He said India’s role as a global leader in peace and coexistence must be bolstered by a commitment to internal unity. Quoting, “Shanti Ke Liye Shakti Bhi Zaroori Hai” (Strength is essential for peace), he said, “While peace is vital, the strength to defend that peace is equally crucial.”
The BJP leader called for a collective effort to uphold the secular and inclusive values that form the foundation of Indian society, asserting that no one should be allowed to claim superiority or preference on the basis of religion, caste or creed.
Turning to the educational values promoted at Brahamrishi Bawara Vidyapeeth, Pathania praised the school for its dedication to preserving India’s cultural heritage. He commended the school’s curriculum, which stresses the teachings of the Vedas and the nurturing of ‘sanskar’—values that instill respect for tradition, ethics and social harmony.
According to Pathania, the school’s holistic approach to education, which combines academic excellence with a deep-rooted understanding of Indian history and culture, is an exemplary model for shaping future leaders who will carry forward India’s legacy of peace and unity.
“The essence of the Vedas lies in their timeless wisdom, which continues to guide humanity toward righteousness, peace, and knowledge,” the MLA said. “The teachings of the Vedas are not confined to the past; they provide us with enduring principles that can help navigate the complexities of the modern world. By integrating sanskar into the education system, Brahamrishi Bawara Vidyapeeth ensures that students grow not only intellectually but also morally and spiritually.”
Pathania urged all citizens to work together to combat the forces of extremism and polarisation. “The strength of India lies in its unity and diversity and the nation must strive to protect its secular, inclusive and peaceful ideals,” he said. “We must stand united, defend our shared values, and ensure that India remains a beacon of peace, respect and coexistence in the world.”
