Srinagar, Nov 22: Chairman of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF), Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Friday called on the tourism department to prioritise winter tourism activities in Doodhpathri to ensure the destination remains accessible to tourists throughout the winter season.
In a statement issued here, Yaseen urged the authorities to finalise arrangements for winter tourism in Doodhpathri. He said initiatives should focus on introducing skiing and other winter sports to attract more visitors.
The PDF chief urged the government to prioritise the construction of the proposed cable car project in Doodhpathri, saying that a survey for the project has already been completed. He called for an immediate approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this tourism initiative.
The former minister also called for expediting the development of a ski lift in Doodhpathri, which, he said, would enable tourists and skiing enthusiasts to enjoy the facilities during the winter months.
Hakeem demanded the immediate execution of work on the cable car projects connecting Sitharn to Tosamaidan and Tosamaidan to Loren Poonch. “These projects have already been approved by the government. The early completion of these vital tourism projects would be crucial for the socio-economic transformation and prosperity of Khansahib and its surrounding areas,” he said. “The successful implementation of these projects would boost tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic activities in the region.”
