Srinagar, Oct 31: The Parents and students from the Kashmir Valley have welcomed the J&K government’s decision to restore the academic session for classes up to the 9th grade to the month of November.
Farooq Ahmad, one of the parents, told Rising Kashmir that the government has made a commendable choice in restoring the academic session for grades up to 9th to November-December, replacing the previous schedule that commenced in March.
He said that the alteration in the academic calendar allows students from the Kashmir Valley and the winter zone of the Jammu division to attend their classes effectively, which had been disrupted when the academic session was shifted to March.
Ahmad emphasized that during the winter months, students can also engage in coaching and study for other subjects, thereby enhancing their knowledge.
Fatima Jan, a school student, remarked that with the government’s announcement to change the academic session back to November and December, students will have ample time to prepare for other examinations.
“The students, parents, and teachers have all advocated for the November-December academic session in the Kashmir Valley, as the March schedule was not conducive for students in this region,” she said.
Zahoor Ahmad, a 10th-grade student, suggested that the government should conduct examinations for the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades starting in February and announce the results by April 15. He believes that timely results will facilitate a smoother transition for the academic session for grades 10 to 12, ensuring that the syllabus is completed in a timely manner within schools.
