Awantipora, October 9: The Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development, Islamic University of Science and Technology (CIED IUST) Foundation organized a review and orientation program for its newly inducted members, focusing on developing a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-ups in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, and coordinated by Prof. Parvez Ahmed, Director CIED.
During the session, Prof. Parvaiz A Mir welcomed the new members to the CIED IUST Foundation and expressed his confidence in their ability to drive innovation and entrepreneurship across the Union Territory. He commended the contributions of CIED IUST in raising awareness and sensitizing the community about the significance of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. He highlighted that IUST is the only university in the area to gain national recognition for fostering this culture, emphasizing its unique position in shaping the entrepreneurial landscape.
Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo emphasized the importance of encouraging more start-ups through the CIED verticals, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in supporting the nation’s vision of becoming a multi-million-dollar economy. He also urged the faculty at IUST to embrace entrepreneurship as a mission and actively contribute to its growth in all possible ways.
Prof. Parvez A. Mir, Director CIED, provided an overview of the foundation’s past activities and stressed the need for each vertical to develop actionable plans to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
