Baramulla, Dec 20: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar on Wednesday urged the unemployed youth to benefit from government-sponsored welfare schemes for personal growth and empowerment.
She said this while distributing highly subsidised small commercial vehicles to 15 beneficiaries under the ‘Mumkin’ youth livelihood program. These vehicles have 20 percent subsidy on the on-road price.
The ‘Mumkin’ initiative, jointly funded by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, banking partners and vehicle manufacturers, aims to provide sustainable livelihoods to the youth of the region.
The DC Baramulla highlighted the scheme’s comprehensive support structure, saying banking partners would extend loan facilities covering 100 percent of the on-road price. Additionally, Mission Youth is set to provide 10 percent of the on-road price or the equivalent upfront subsidy, whichever is lesser.
The ‘Mumkin’ initiative has seen the distribution of 141 vehicles in the Baramulla district to date. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic self-sufficiency among the region’s youth.
