Srinagar, Oct 02: 61 BN, CRPF Shivpora, Srinagar today organised Swachhata Divas in a grand manner at BN HQ and Shri Shankaracharya ji temple. During the Swachhata Abhiyaan, unit personnel
and locals willingly offered their services of cleaning the area. The event was flagged off by Sudhanshu Shekhar, Commandant in presence of Awadhesh Kumar 2IC, Rinki Kumari, Deputy Comdt, Virat Kumar Singh, Deputy Comdt, Pawan Kumar Singh, Asst. Comdt.
Swachhata Pakhwara is celebrated annually from September 17 to October 2, coinciding with Gandhi
Jayanti, to promote cleanliness and sanitation across India. This 15-day event is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 to create a cleaner and healthier India.
The theme for Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 is “ Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata,” emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in our daily lives.
During Swachhata Pakhwara, various activities were organized at Unit level including cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and community events.
Key Highlights of Swachhata Pakhwara: Cleanliness Drive: Cleanliness drives were conducted in public places, temples and communities.
Awareness Campaigns: Events and campaigns were organized to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
Community Participation: Local government bodies, women’s groups, youth organizations,
and community leaders participated in the event. By celebrating Swachhata Pakhwara on Gandhi
Jayanti, 61 BN CRPF has tried to reinforce its commitment to cleanliness, public health and environmental sustainability, aligning with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and healthy India.
On the occasion, Sanitation workers of the unit were felicitated for their selfless service and for maintaining the Surrounding area of the camp neat and clean.
