Jammu, Sept 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Friday called on the people here to stand for a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir.
“Today, there is a need to look at Jammu & Kashmir as an integral part of India, and our commitment to uphold the peace and prosperity of the region stands firm,” he said in a statement, adding, “There is a need to realise Jammu & Kashmir developing in all spheres, improving the lives of all citizens.”
Chugh highlighted the progress made in the region under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the journey of Jammu & Kashmir towards development is a testament to Modi’s vision. He urged the people to stand united and voice their support for peace and prosperity in the region.
This is possible only by a party which believes in the firm ideals of national integration with the concept of ‘Antyodaya’ and in the present time our Prime minister leading the nation with “ Sab ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab ka Vishwas’, he said.
The BJP leader called on the people of the region to recognise the government led by Narendra Modi in abrogating Articles 370 and 35A, making the region an integral part of India, and not to fall for the “divisive and separatist agenda” of the National Conference, Congress and People’s Democratic Party.
“These parties speak of restoring Article 370 and removing the reservation,” he said.
Chugh accused the Congress and NC of being aligned with the agenda of Pakistan.“Under Modi’s leadership, our government has taken every measure to counterstrike neighbouring Pakistan whenever there has been an attempt on the integrity and unity of our country,” he said.
He said the government will not allow any attempts to revoke the reservation given to Gujjars and Paharis.
Chugh referred to various schemes and development plans for the region, saying it is bound to progress like never before under Modi’s leadership.
The BJP leader recalled the sacrifices made by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for ending Article 370 and his opposition to two symbols, two laws and two constitutions. “There can only be one flag, one head and one constitution in the country,” he said.
Chugh concluded by calling on the people of Jammu & Kashmir to vote for the BJP. “We need a Viksit Jammu Kashmir for a Viksit Bharat” (a developed Jammu and Kashmir for a developed India),” he said.
