Budgam, Sept 18: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) chairman, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Wednesday urged the people to vote for his party’s candidates to ensure their voices are heard in the legislature. He said there is a need for all-round development of the Budgam constituency while calling for the rejection of dynastic political parties.
Speaking at a poll rally in the Narkara area, Yaseen accused the Congress, National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of playing their roles in undermining Article 370 since 1953. “These parties have consistently betrayed the trust and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in pursuit of power,” he said.
Hakeem endorsed Dr Nissar Ahmad Paul, the PDF candidate for the Budgam assembly constituency, describing him as an upright and dedicated social activist equipped to advocate for the community’s basic rights. “With Dr Nissar Paul, the PDF will work tirelessly for the socio-economic transformation of Budgam,” he said.
The former minister said despite its proximity to Srinagar and Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, Budgam has been neglected by previous governments across all sectors. He stressed the need for establishing a Technical Training Institute, a degree college and a cluster university in the area. “I promise that the PDF will vigorously pursue these demands in the upcoming assembly,” he said.
