Srinagar, Sept 09: Chairman of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and candidate for the Khansahib Assembly constituency, Hakeem Yaseen on Monday said the construction of the Sukhnag Mini Hydroelectric Power Project, which has already received cabinet approval and technical clearance under the previous civilian government, remains a top priority for his party.
Asserting that Palmaidan has the potential to be a major tourist destination, he promised to vigorously pursue these projects with the newly formed civilian government. Both initiatives, he said, are pivotal for the socio-economic transformation of the Khansahib and Raithan areas in Budgam district.
Addressing an election rally in Raithan, the PDF chief assured the people that the Sukhnag power project would be prioritised. “The project, once completed, would meet the local power demands of the Khansahib area,” he said.
Hakeem said the development of Palmaidan into a major tourist hub would not only boost tourism in Raithan but also create livelihood opportunities for local residents, similar to those in Doodhpathri.” “The socio-economic upliftment of the Khansahib constituency has always been the core mission of the PDF, and we will pursue it with unwavering commitment,” he said.
The former minister reiterated his party’s determination to fight for the restoration of the democratic and constitutional rights of Jammu & Kashmir, which he said have been undermined since August 5, 2019. “The PDF will not allow any compromise on the dignity and special identity of Jammu & Kashmir,” he assured.
Yaseen appealed to voters to support PDF candidates. He urged people to send a strong message to traditional political parties who have “betrayed” the aspirations of the common masses in the past.
