The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is making waves across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with a primary focus on saturating government schemes. The ultimate goal is ambitious yet transformative – reaching the last person in the queue and propelling India into developed status by 2047.

In the realm of women’s empowerment, the UT of J&K has witnessed a series of strategic initiatives over the past four years. The commitment to fostering progress is evident through various schemes aimed at improving the lives of women across the region.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: A Breath of Fresh Air

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a remarkable 12.45 lakh free LPG gas connections have been provided to women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. This initiative not only ensures access to clean cooking fuel but also liberates women from health risks associated with traditional cooking methods involving smoke.

PM Awas Yojana – Gramin: Homes for All

The PM Awas Yojana – Gramin, dedicated to providing housing for all, has achieved significant milestones. Impressively, 83.79% of the total planned houses have been completed. What makes this achievement even more noteworthy is that a substantial portion of these homes belongs to women, reflecting a commitment to gender-inclusive development.

PM Mudra Yojana: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

The PM Mudra Yojana has played a pivotal role in facilitating entrepreneurship among women. Of the over 15.74 lakh MUDRA loans disbursed, a commendable 22% have been extended to women. This not only supports women in pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams but also contributes to economic growth and empowerment.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: Securing the Future

With a focus on securing the future of girl children, the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has seen over 2.43 lakh accounts opened. This long-term savings scheme empowers families to plan for the education and marriage expenses of their girl children, fostering a more secure and equitable future.

Sahi Poshan, Desh Roshan: Nourishing Women and Children

The commitment to holistic well-being is evident through the Sahi Poshan, Desh Roshan initiative. More than 8.06 lakh women and children have received vital nutritional benefits, underlining the comprehensive approach taken to enhance the health and prosperity of the community.

In conclusion, the strides made in women’s empowerment through these schemes are not only numeric achievements but represent a commitment to creating a more equitable and prosperous society. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra serves as a testament to the transformative power of targeted initiatives, paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
