People’s Democratic Party Chief, Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday expressed condolences over the death of Captain Deepak Singh, who was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Doda and said that the endless cycle of violence in Jammu and Kashmir continues.

“No words will suffice to express the tragedy at Doda today, where Captain Deepak Singh was killed during an encounter. The endless cycle of violence and mayhem in J-K continues to devour the lives of innocents despite tall claims of normalcy by the administration. My deepest condolences to his family,” Mufti posted on X.

National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that it is highly unfortunate that the situation in some parts of the Jammu region has been allowed to deteriorate like this.

“Another young army officer lays down his life in the line of duty, this time in an encounter in Doda. It is highly unfortunate that the situation in some parts of Jammu region has been allowed to deteriorate like this. May Captain Deepak Singh’s soul rest in peace. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues,” Omar posted on X.

The Indian Army on Wednesday offered its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Captain Deepak Singh, who lost his life during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.

Condoling his death, White Knight Corps said in a post on X, “All Ranks of WhiteKnightCorps salute the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Capt Deepak Singh who succumbed to his injuries.”

“White Knight Corps offers deepest condolences and stands firm with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” they said.

A captain of the Indian Army was killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday, officials said.

According to Defence officials, “A Captain of the Indian Army from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles was killed in action during the ongoing Op Assar in Doda district.” The officer was killed while leading a search party during the operation.

Earlier today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened an important meeting on the “rising” terror-related incidents in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In recent months, Jammu has seen an increase in terror attacks, including an assault on an army convoy in Kathua and skirmishes in Doda and Udhampur. (ANI)
