Srinagar, July 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) Department of Rural Development & Panchayti Raj is preparing to organize the 3rd edition of SARAS Aajeevika 3.0 at Zabarwan Park, Boulevard Srinagar from August 3- August 12, 2024.
The third edition of SARAS AAJEEVIKA Kashmir promises an even greater celebration of India’s rich cultural heritage. SARAS AAJEVIKA 3.0 features an impressive showcase of 60 unique stalls, with participants from outside the Jammu and Kashmir. These stalls will display a fusion of products from various regions of India, providing visitors with a true representation of the country’s artistry and craftsmanship.
The Mela aims to eradicate middlemen between the craftsperson and the local buyers and ensures to increase the margins for the artisans.
Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, Additional Mission Director JKRLM Kashmir Division told the Rising Kashmir that that the 3rd edition of SARAS Aajeevika 3.0 will take place from August 3 to August 12, 2024 at Zabarwan Park, Boulevard Srinagar.
” SARAS Aajeevika Kashmir provides a platform for rural women to display their goods and create a market for them to sell their products directly to customers. It also allows them to understand customer preferences and choices, enhance and reinvent their products, and sharpen their marketing abilities,” Beigh said
He said that the Mela features handicrafts, handlooms, and natural & organic food products, from diverse rural regions of India. The event is solely managed by rural women, and everything displayed is made by them and will be sold only by them. It will be open daily from 9 am to 8:00 pm, offering visitors the opportunity to explore around 60 stalls displaying a variety of art and craft.
“SARAS Aajeevika Mela also provides a platform for all the rural women of the other States to provide the direct marketing platform, where they can sell their handmade products to the local visitors, local and international tourists. Apart from the exhibition and sale of products, the SARAS Ajeevika 3.0 will feature various cultural programs and activities to engage and entertain visitors and tourists,” he said.
