Baramulla, Dec 23: A double-storey house was damaged in a fire incident at Nawa Runda village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said the fire engulfed a double-storey house belonging to Ashraf Kohli, son of Mohammad Akbar Kohli, in Nawa Runda village at around 6 am.
The village, situated approximately 18 kilometres from Uri town, witnessed the destructive blaze that resulted in extensive damage to the property. Efforts to combat the fire were promptly initiated by locals, the fire and emergency department, police, and army personnel.
Despite their collective endeavours, the intensity of the flames proved strong, leading to the destruction of the house.
Preliminary estimates suggest the damages to be in lakhs of rupees.
The locals of Nawa Runda village have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Uri for assistance during these harsh winter days.
