Kulgam, Nov 29: Seven kanals of illegally encroached land were retrieved and handed over to its rightful owners in Turigam village of Yaripora Tehsil, officials said on Wednesday.
Javid Iqbal, Tehsildar Yaripora, told Rising Kashmir that the land, belonging to members of the Kashmiri Pandit community, had been unlawfully occupied by some individuals.
“The original owners had filed an application stating that their land had been encroached upon. After scrutinizing the land records, we identified the property and initiated action,” he said.
A joint team of the revenue department and police visited the site, removed the illegal boundary wall and other structures, and restored the land to its rightful owners, he said.
Tehsildar Yaripora urged the public to cooperate with the administration and refrain from illegal construction, especially on state land or properties belonging to members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
“Strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in encroachments,” he added.
