Srinagar, Feb 15:  The  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav on Thursday said that the general public of the  Kishtwar district will get a  substantially improved  power supply.  This development comes after the successful completion of the 132KV Ramban-Khellani-Kishtwar line up to Khellani, which will bring an additional 10-12MW of power to the district through the 132KV Dul Hasti line.

The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar said  that the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar had been relying on the 132KV DPS line, which was constructed in 1987, for their power supply.

The construction of the 132KV DC Ramban-Khellani-Kishtwar line, which began in 2007, faced various challenges that resulted in delays and non-commissioning.

However, with persistent efforts and financial support from the UT administration, the line was successfully made operational up to Khellani by PGCIL & JKPTCL on January 31, 2024, after a hiatus of more than 17 years.

“This significant development will bring substantial improvements in power supply to the residents of District Kishtwar. Urban areas can expect to receive more than 20 hours of power supply, while rural areas will benefit from 18 hours, a remarkable increase from the previous allocation of 33MW to a total of 45MW for the district,” Dr Yadav said.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed appreciation for the joint efforts of PGCIL & JKPTCL, underscoring that this accomplishment signifies a significant milestone in meeting the energy requirements of the region. The successful completion of a long-pending power transmission project aligns with the emphasis placed by the Lieutenant Governor on delivering reliable power supply to the most remote areas.

DC Kishtwar  provided an overview of the “Jankari se Development Tak” initiative in Kishtwar. This innovative program utilizes easily understandable and informative videos that are accessible to the general public. Its primary aim is to enhance widespread awareness and understanding of government flagship schemes at the grassroots level, ensuring maximum benefit for the common population.

The DC Kishtwar emphasized the importance of collaboration between the media fraternity and the DI&PR team to effectively disseminate these videos for a broader impact.

Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar highlighted the upcoming second session of “Kishtwar Idol,” which is scheduled to commence next week, and encouraged aspiring artists to prepare for participation.
