10-day training on microbiological methods commences at SKUAST-K

Srinagar, March 7: A ten-day training cum workshop on ‘Microbiological Methods’ was inaugurated on Tuesday at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir’s Faculty Outreach Centre, FVSc&AH, Shuhama campus. 
The workshop is being organised by the university’s Division of Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Shuhama under the World Bank-ICAR-funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for the institutional 
About 20 participants from various national level universities including the officers of the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments of Kashmir Division are participating in the training programme. 
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who was the chief guest at the inaugural session, highlighted the importance of short-term skill-based courses in the present era for professionalism and hoped that SKUAST-Kashmir turns out to be the favourite destination for the same to the students all around the globe. Prof Nazir stressed on the participants to make full use of the upcoming training sessions and wide utilisation of state-of-the-art labs. 
Dean Faculty of Veterinary, Prof Mohammad Tufail Banday, in his address, spoke on the utility of present training for participants in the context of changing scientific scenarios. He further threw light on various aspects of capacity-building programmes held at the faculty in general and the organizing Division in particular. 
OSD to Vice Chancellor and Co-PI IDP-NAHEP, Prof Azmat Alam Khan, talked about the various initiatives and opportunities under the World Bank-funded project.
Earlier Prof Mohammad Altaf Bhat from the organizing Division formally welcomed the participants while Prof. Sabia Qureshi gave a brief overview of the training programme. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Zahid A Kashoo, Assistant Prof. in the Division of Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology.
