Pulwama, June 01: Landslides hit a residential house at Chandgam village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
Local residents informed Rising Kashmir that a residential house at the base of a karewa was hit by landslides triggered by intermittent rains from the past three days.
They added that the house owned by Ghulam Nabi Malik suffered damages in the incident.
“A window and a portion of the room wall surrounding the window were smashed by an earthen mass brought down by the landslide from the karewa,” local residents said.
The locals said that there are around five houses at the base of the Karewa which are prone to landslides.
Tehsildar Pulwama, Mohammad Iqbal, said that they visited the spot and handed over immediate relief to the victim family from the Red Cross.
“Besides the case is being processed under SDRF,” he said.
The Tehsildar Pulwama added that he issued advisory to the landslide prone families for moving to safer areas for two to three days till the weather improves.
