Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Pahalgam gear up for New Year extravaganza

The captivating destinations of Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonmarg are all geared up to host the new year celebration as the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department is orchestrating events to welcome the New Year by infusing local charm into the festivities.
Embracing the rich cultural tapestry of Kashmir, renowned local celebrities like Aabha Hanjura, Adil Gurezi, and Afaq Shafi, along with several other artists, are set to captivate both tourists and locals in these destinations, according to a tourism official.
Gulmarg has already reached full capacity, with hotels reporting 100 percent occupancy, creating an unprecedented buzz for the New Year festivities. The Tourism Department, in collaboration with local talents, is curating an unforgettable experience for visitors. Laser sound and light shows will illuminate the night sky, complementing a musical extravaganza at Gulmarg on New Year’s Eve.
Not limited to the department’s efforts, hoteliers in Gulmarg and Pahalgam are gearing up for the celebrations, arranging gala dinners and musical nights to add to the revelry for tourists.
In Pahalgam, Kashmiri singers Ishfaq Kawa, IBM Band, Rasik, and Kohinoor will grace the stage at Pahalgam Club on December 31, heralding the arrival of the new year. The spotlight of the show will be on IBM Irfan, Bilal, and Mehmeet , famous Kashmiri musicians promoting the vibrant Kashmiri music scene.
Even in the winter wonderland of Sonmarg, where the snow holds its magic, and the Tourism Department has planned New Year celebrations. The enchanting activity of ice skating is set to captivate the audience, creating an immersive experience for both tourists and locals.
An official from the tourism department stressed that these events were strategically scheduled in response to the surge in tourists flocking to Kashmir ahead of the new year eve.
