3 family members killed after ‘Kotha’ collapses in Anantnag’s Larnoo

LG condoles loss of lives, directs district admin for immediate assistance

Anantnag, Sep 18: Three family members died after a mud house (Kotha) collapsed in the Larnoo area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday morning.
Tehsildar Larnoo giving details to Rising Kashmir said that the deceased persons have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Gorsi (40), Hajra Banoo (60) wife of Mohammad Hussain Gorsi and Asif Ahmad (14) son of Manzoor Ahmad Gorsi, all residents of Bidhard Larnoo.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old girl miraculous survived the tragic incident and received a minor injury. The family was presently residing in a Kotha at the Mather, a forest area of Larnoo Tehsil, an official said.
“They were two families in the Kotha which collapsed and daughter of deceased Hajra Banoo survived and is with family at Bidhard,” he said.
Abdul Gani, a local said, the incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday and unfortunately took away the human lives. He said, the Kotha was old and collapsed today which resulted in the tragic incident.
LG J&K has expressed anguish over the loss of lives and directed district admin for immediate assistance to the affected family.
Office of LG in a tweet said, “Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a house collapse in Larnoo, Anantnag. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Directed district administration to ensure best possible treatment to the injured & immediate assistance to the affected families.”
 
 
 
 
DC Anantnag issues ex-gratia relief of Rs 1 lakh
Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag,  Dr Basharat Qayoom issued ex gratia relief of Rs 50 thousand  each to the families of victims who lost their lives in a tragic incident at Daksum.
In addition to the ex gratia relief, other necessary items including blankets and kitchen utensils were also provided to the families. 
It is pertinent to mention that the relief has been issued within 24 hours of the incident coming to light. 
It was informed that during the intervening night of September 17 &18,  a mud house situated in Mather Patheri Daksum collapsed. 
Among the inhabitants, three people namely Hajira 55,  w/o Hussain Gorsi,  Manzoor Gorsi, 40, s/o Mohammad Abdullah  and Asif Gorsi, 16,  s/o Manzoor Gorsi  all residents of Bidhard, lost their lives in the incident.
It was also informed that fourth person  Shakeena, 12,  daughter of Hussain Gorsi is safe and is with her family.
Speaking regarding the incident, DC Anantnag said that immediately after reports regarding the incident were received, a team of revenue and police officials was deputed to the spot. He said that relief has been disbursed to the Next of Kins (NoK) of victims while  officials have been directed to provide all necessary assistance to the affected family.
