Srinagar, Mar 12: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Sunday claimed that J&K youth have rejected the “goli and grenade” path and that it is now time to further reinforce the peace in the Union Territory and thwart conspiracies of adversarial elements..
The DGP was addressing the reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural function of B.N Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship 2022-23 hosted by J&K Police in Srinagar.
“Youth has rejected the path of “goli and grenade” and are overwhelmingly participating in positive activities like sports and other cultural activities. Pakistan and its agencies have always remained hell-bent in disrupting peace in J&K as they are not happy with the peace and development here,” he added.
Target killings, according to the DGP, have decreased significantly, but such events still occur occasionally . “Security authorities are closely monitoring and counterproductive measures are being implemented to eradicate terrorism totally from the soil,” he added.
“All the counter measures are in place to stop these attacks and also to hunt down propagators of terrorism,” DGP Singh said.
DGP Dilbag Singh said that chances of infiltration are increasing as soon as the snow starts melting on high reaches of the border.
He said so far the infiltration from across the border is controlled to a great extent. Although terrorists will attempt to cross this side but our security forces are there to defeat their nefarious designs, he added.
“SIU, SIA, and NIA are all working together, and we have included the Narcotics Bureau along with us. With the assistance of these agencies, the ramification of interstate gangs and their operations would be finished and destroyed on all levels completely, and efforts are being made towards that end,” he said.
The DGP said that Pakistan-sponsored forces and their agencies have long played games of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, and they do not want peace to reign here.“I made my children and youth aware that time has come to expose these conspiracies of Pakistan. Now it is time for strengthen peace and stability in the Jammu and Kashmir.”
Regarding infiltration along the borders, the DGP Singh infiltration bids have been stopped to a large extent, adding that infiltration chances rise more when snow is melting and all the arrangements are in place to stop these attempts.
“There will be efforts of infiltration to this side but all arrangements are there to foil these attempts, he said.
The DGP said that Pakistan and its agencies are abating and supporting terrorism and narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said security forces have captured a large consignment of narcotics and arms and ammunition in Poonch recently.
“Pakistan not only transports narcotics and arms and ammunition but huge amounts of cash are also being sent from across the border for spread militancy in the region,” he said.
DGP Singh stated that security officers had seized Rs 1.5 crore in cash and 7 kg of heroin in Poonch district alone. He stated that this money, as well as the proceeds from the sale of heroin, is being used to promote militancy in the region.“Our utmost efforts is that all such modules be busted and neutralized”, the DGP said.
“I want to make the youth of Jammu and Kashmir aware that time has come to stop the conspiracies of Pakistan and strengthen the bonds of peace and prosperity,” he added.
Regarding allegations of families whose properties are being attached, DGP Singh said properties are being attached after proper verification.
“We are not playing any game, whenever we find that certain property has been utilised for terrorism with nod for the owner. Just those properties are being connected. We have told individuals several times not to offer refuge or transportation to any terrorist .
“Those who are found guilty of providing support to terrorists in their nefarious designs will not be spared anymore,” he said.
