Jammu, Dec 03: In a thrilling encounter at the Jammu Sports Cricket Stadium, Lower Kota Tawa, JK Daredevils emerged victorious by a substantial margin of 75 runs against JK Kings Eleven in the World Disabled Day Cricket Cup. The tournament, organized by the Differently Abled Cricket Association of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Jammu Sports Cricket Club, showcased remarkable talent and resilience among specially-abled cricketers.
The chief guest, Haseeb Ur Rehman, DIG Railway Jammu, commended the efforts of the Differently Abled Cricket Association for its relentless work over the past 12 years, providing platforms for specially-abled cricketers in the region. Rehman announced support for the specially-abled cricketers, acknowledging their dedication and skill in the game. He also extended his best wishes to all participants for their future endeavors in national matches.
Rajesh Gill, Honorary President, highlighted the significance of World Disabled Day, emphasizing the celebration of special abilities and raising awareness about disability issues globally. He proudly shared that the JK Differently Abled Cricket team, now two-time state champions, continues to make a mark in the cricketing world.
The valedictory function witnessed the distribution of trophies by Chief Guest Haseeb Ur Rehman, with Rajesh Gill, Avinash Uttam, and other dignitaries present. The outstanding performance of Tariq Ahmad, who scored 75 runs, earned him the title of ‘Man of the Match,’ while Imtiaz Ahmad was declared the ‘Best Batsman,’ and Nikhil received the accolade of ‘Best Bowler.’
RK Bhat, SSP, expressed admiration for the exceptional cricketing skills displayed by the specially-abled cricketers and conveyed his blessings for their future endeavors. The match itself saw Jammu and Kashmir Daredevils setting a formidable target of 175 runs in 20 overs, with Tariq Ahmad and Imtiaz Ahmad as the main contributors. JK Kings Eleven, in response, managed to score 100 runs for all wickets in 17 overs, with Vinod and Pankaj leading the charge.
