Mothers should be careful when handling newborn babies to prevent infection to your baby through your hands. Make sure that you properly wash hands with soap or sanitize them before attending to your baby to ensure adequate hand hygiene. Also ask visitors to ensure the same. Hand washing at particular critical times like after defecation and after cleaning infants perineum are very essential. Proper steps of hand washing should be followed. Proper hand washing and prevention of transmission of many diseases and particularly in children respiratory and diarrhoeal diseases which are an important cause of mortality in children who are breastfeeding.
