Samba, Apr 24: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has said that his party aims to empower women in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Former Minister was addressing a women wing meeting at village Kartholi which was organized by Provincial President, Women Wing Jammu, Pavneet Kour, and Shivani Koul.
Addressing the women wing meeting, S. Manjit Singh said that the Apni Party is committed to empower the women in J&K socially, politically and educationally.
He said that the party has adopted a policy to upgrade the living standard of the people especially women without discrimination in all the regions equally.
“We are committed to enhance widow pension/old age pension up to Rs 5000 from Rs 1000. We will also provide 4 cooking gas cylinders every year under the Ujjawala scheme to the people and marriage assistance up to Rs 1 lakhs to the poor girls on the occasion of their marriage,” he said.
Appreciating the women wing, he said that the women leaders have worked hard among the people and emphasized on the need to involve more and more women both in rural and urban areas to educate them about social, educational, and political rights.
He said that the Govt should organize camps for the pensioners and should not force the people to queue up in the Govt offices and banks to get the formalities completed.
Singh also referred to various social evils which have direct bearing on the lives of the women in day to day lives when he raised the issue of growing menace of drug addiction.
“The drug addiction must be controlled with the involvement of women and society in general to curb the menace which has given rise to many criminal activities and crime against women,” he said.
On this occasion, Pavneet Kour also spoke and highlighted various issues of the women like underdevelopment, skill development, political empowerment, educational issues etc.
