Srinagar, Dec 30: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and MP from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday said that the party will continue to shoulder the onerous responsibility of protecting the vital interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
This he said while interacting with party functionaries and workers at the party’s headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar. Dr Farooq said the birth of the NC was a significant landmark in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. “We are the visible symbol of political unity of varied sections of J&K,” he added.
He further added, “National Conference has long been synonymous with the aspirations of the people of J&K and that it exhibits the cultural, linguistic and religious diversity of J&K.”
Later Dr. Farooq offered Friday congregational prayers at Asar-e-Sharief Dargah Hazratbal, Srinagar, where he prayed for increased prospects of peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Party President also prayed for other bountiful provisions for the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile Dr. Farooq Abdullah and NC Vice-President Omar Abdullah expressed deepest condolences with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the demise of his mother.
The National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah also expressed profound anguish over a massive fire incident in Dangarpora, Anantnag in which around 13 houses and around ten shops were gutted.
Expressing sympathies with the affected families and traders, Dr. Farooq said, “I’m extremely saddened by the devastating inferno that has reduced several houses and shops to ashes in the Dangerpora area of Anantnag Constituency. It is imperative for the administration to reach out to the affected with timely relief and compensation”.
He urged district administration to distribute free monthly ration consisting of rice, sugar, and other necessary items to the affected families. “They should also be provided with subsidized building raw material, warm thermal wear, and blankets.”
