Srinagar, Sept 07: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday held a meeting at Chattabal, organised by Hajra Ji, which witnessed large participation of women. The meeting was attended by Zone President Habba Kadal Tufail Bhat, senior leader Bashir Ahmed and others.
Speaking on the occasion, PDP leader Arif Laigaroo said, “The Chattabal area has been completely ignored by the government. People here are suffering due to a lack of basic amenities, and the sitting MLA Shamima Firdous has failed to live up to the expectations of the people.”
Former MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh, in his address, said, “PDP has always stood with the people at the grassroots level. We will continue to highlight their issues and ensure that their voices are heard.”
The leaders expressed concern over the hardships being faced by locals, including a shortage of drinking water, lack of street lights, choked drains, demand for a playground, and rising electricity bills, which have left people frustrated and burdened.
District President (Women’s Wing) Sarah Nayeem stressed the importance of women’s empowerment, saying, “Women’s active participation in politics and social causes is essential for building a just and inclusive society. PDP has always encouraged women to play a leading role in decision-making, and we will continue to strengthen this involvement.”
