Poonch, April 29 : A severe road accident occurred on Tuesday in the Saloonian area of Tehsil Mandi when a private vehicle belonging to a Panchayat Accounts Assistant lost control and skidded off the road into a deep gorge.
The vehicle, a WagonR bearing registration number JK12A 0327, veered off the road at Saloonian and crashed into the valley below. The driver, identified as Mohammad Iqbal, son of Abdul Hameed, aged around 30, originally from Barachad and currently residing in Aala Peer, Poonch, sustained severe injuries in the mishap.
Local residents promptly launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured to the Sub-District Hospital Mandi. After receiving initial medical treatment, he was referred to the District Hospital Poonch for advanced care.
According to doctors, the victim is currently in a stable condition, but has been kept under observation for further evaluation and treatment. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
