Jammu, Mar 01: Bharatiya Janata Party National President J P Nadda on Saturday directed all BJP MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to uphold the party’s core ideology and strongly counter anti-national elements and separatist ideology during the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly.
During a two-hour-long meeting held in Katra, Nadda instructed BJP MLAs to actively raise issues concerning the common masses in the Assembly.
The meeting, attended by BJP J&K MLAs and organisational members, began at 4:30 pm and concluded at 6:30 pm.
“Remain connected to the people of J&K, raise their everyday concerns in the Assembly, and never compromise on nationalism or BJP’s core ideology,” Nadda categorically told the party’s legislators.
“Whether in power or not, BJP leaders must remain connected with the grassroots and remain fully committed to the party’s core ideology,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Nadda, along with senior BJP leaders, including J&K UT President Sat Sharma and J&K BJP Incharge Tarun Chugh, paid obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
On Friday, senior BJP leaders BL Santosh (National General Secretary – Organisation) and Tarun Chugh (National General Secretary and J&K Incharge) held discussions with BJP MLAs regarding strategies for the budget session.
During Saturday’s meeting, all 28 BJP MLAs were present, along with three Members of Parliament (MPs), including two from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana.
Meanwhile, according to a BJP statement issued here, Nadda called upon the elected representatives to prioritise constituency development and maintain deep connections with citizens. He highlighted the importance of “Karyakarta Nirman” and urged MLAs to rise above the allure of political posts.
Drawing from his own experience as an MLA and Leader of the Opposition, he stressed that “posts are transient, but the trust of the people is enduring”. He advised legislators to proactively engage with communities through platforms like Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Asha workers’ meetings and parent-teacher interactions in government schools.
The BJP leader asked MLAs to be “good listeners” to effectively resolve public grievances and regularly visit SC/ST communities to ensure inclusive development. The session concluded with a resolve among participants to adopt a service-oriented approach, aligning with the BJP’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
